About Us

Anna Kowaleski & Jaime Schmidt-Little

Our passion for acroyoga comes from our desire for connection and community, and also the possibility that acroyoga has to radically transform the lives of its practitioners.  The name Kutumba Energy comes from the Sanskrit expression 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' which means 'The World is One Family'. We hope to create a sense of family wherever we go and with whomever we meet in our journey, and we believe that through the beautiful practices of yoga and acroyoga, we can help others to see that at the core, we are all the same and we all belong. By working together and cultivating patience, community, communication, connection and creativity, we can build not only a wonderful acroyoga practice, but we can also change the world.

Our first acroyoga class (which we did together)! Acroyoga is an incredible tool for helping people to get past perceived limitations. Neither of us come from an acrobatic or gymnastic background of any sort and we were amazed at what we could do (in fact it has changed our entire lives!). When you are able to accomplish something physically that you had never dreamed possible, you start to question what else in your life that you have deemed 'impossible' that is actually within your grasp. When we were able to open up to those possibilities, we were able to step into a life that was actually inspired by passion and wonder, instead of the daily grind that we were previously stuck in. We literally went to one class, and then decided that we have to do acroyoga forever...or at least come to this class every week. We ended up growing our weekly practice into a regular yoga practice, followed by multiple teacher trainings - which led us to quit our full-time office jobs and jump into our careers as yoga and acroyoga professionals.
